ABO successfully organized a wonderful potluck dinner for the Bhutanese community in Hamilton. It was truly heartwarming to see our community coming together with such unity, kindness, and willingness to support one another for a better and stronger future. Canada and Bhutan Look to Strengthen Partnership
Canada’s Ambassador to Bhutan, Christopher Cooter, recently visited Bhutan as part of continued efforts to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. According to a recent report by Kuensel, Canada is looking to deepen its partnership with Bhutan across multiple sectors. The visit reflects the growing importance of cooperation between Bhutan and Canada, not only through formal diplomatic relations, but also through education, development, skills training, and people-to-people connections. For Bhutanese in Ontario, this relationship carries a special meaning. Many members of our community have personal ties to both Bhutan and Canada through family, study, work, and migration. When the two countries continue to build stronger connections, it also reminds us of the role communities play in keeping these relationships alive beyond official meetings and agreements. Education has long been one of the strongest links between Bhutan and Canada. From the contributions of Canadian educators in Bhutan’s modern education system to ongoing cooperation in skills development and training, this connection has helped shape a relationship built on learning, service, and mutual respect. As Bhutan continues to engage with international partners, Canada remains an important country for many Bhutanese families, students, professionals, and community members. Stronger cooperation between the two countries can create more opportunities for exchange, understanding, and collaboration in the years ahead. Association of Bhutanese in Ontario Joins Canadian Multicultural Council
The Association of Bhutanese in Ontario is pleased to share that it has been welcomed as a member of the Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario. This is an important step for our growing Bhutanese community in Ontario. Through this membership, ABO becomes part of a wider network of Asian Canadian organizations that work to promote cultural understanding, community connection, and multicultural participation across the province. For Bhutanese living in Ontario, this recognition helps strengthen our presence within the broader multicultural landscape. It also creates new opportunities for collaboration, cultural exchange, and participation in community events that celebrate the diversity of Asian heritage in Canada. The Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario is a Toronto-based umbrella organization representing more than twenty Asian Canadian associations. Its work includes promoting Asian heritage and culture, supporting intercultural cooperation, and encouraging harmony through the understanding of different cultures and traditions. ABO looks forward to building meaningful connections through this membership and continuing to represent the Bhutanese community with pride, unity, and purpose.
