Kidney Disease Awareness

On April 19, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 PM EST, a successful Kidney Disease Awareness Webinar was conducted via the Zoom platform to create awareness among the Bhutanese community in Ontario by the health coordinator of ABO, Anuka Pradhan.

The session featured the Founder and Executive Director of the Bhutan Kidney Foundation, Sir Tashi Namgay, who shared valuable insights on kidney health and emphasized that awareness is a powerful tool for early detection, prevention, and informed healthcare decisions.

The webinar served as an important platform to educate participants about kidney disease, including its risk factors, warning signs, preventive strategies, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
During the session, emphasis was placed on the fact that awareness is a powerful tool in the fight against kidney disease. Increasing awareness empowers individuals with knowledge, encourages early detection, promotes preventive action, and supports timely healthcare decisions.

The Founder also highlighted the challenges faced by kidney failure patients, including family burden and financial crises, while sharing the Foundation’s support for underprivileged individuals, particularly those from rural areas.

The session witnessed active participation and positive engagement from community members, reflecting the importance of health education initiatives within the Bhutanese community in Ontario. The successful conduct of this webinar represents a meaningful step toward promoting community well-being and strengthening awareness through education and open discussion.
